We’re back! After a period of suitable rest we are happy to announce that Means to an End… Fest will be happening at the 1 in 12 Club in Bradford on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October 2019. We will be announcing line ups for both days VERY shortly.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
A lot of people are asking about advanced tickets for this years MTAE 10th Anniversary. As with all venues, the 1in12 Club has limited capacity. Due to the complexity of the 1in12 Club being a Members Club we have to offer 1in12 Club Members a discount to attend events. For MTAE this means we have 6 different prices, which makes offering advanced tickets very difficult.
For those who require guaranteed entry prior to travelling, we can offer for your name to placed on a list that will be at the entrance at the gig door. Please do not send us messages on Facebook. Please email, specifying the days you wish to attend to: ameanstoanendfest@gmail.com
We hope that festival goers support ALL the bands as we think they are all great and ALL have something to say.
The 1in12 Club will be stocked with some great beers and Buckfast for the festival. We have a new and highly experienced Bar Steward who has completely revamped the beer cellar and the beer (for which I can personally vouch), tastes great, so please support the Club’s bar. It helps us to remain open and be an independent, self-run, social centre, where everyone is welcome.

MTAE
This year is MEANS TO AN END…Fest is our 10th Anniversary. To celebrate this, a Special 2 Colour Screen Printed Limited Edition run of 50 Posters for £6 featuring parts of the Festival from over the years has been created by our friends at The 13th Sign Art in Berlin, Germany.
We do our best to make MTAE affordable and accessible to everyone. This poster has been created to help raise funds to bring the great bands from both the UK and abroad that are playing this year and to help us cover our very large budget.
We hope folk will like it and support us. All the money raised will go to covering the costs of the Fest.
We will also have our customary MTAE double sided tshirt for £8 with, we hope, 3 different colours this year and some Tote Bags for sale too.

The MEANS TO AN END…Collective are happy to announce that the 10th MTAE Fest will happen this year on the days of Friday 10th/Saturday 11th October at the 1in12 Club in Bradford, West Yorkshire and on Sunday 12th October at Wharf Chambers Co-Op in Leeds.
Being our 10th anniversary we are hoping many folk will come and celebrate with us ten years of DIY punk and mayhem!
Regular news updates will be posted in the MTAE News section so please keep your eyes peeled for musings there. Once a poster has been drawn up we will be distributing these far and wide so any help with advertising will be appreciated. Modern techology and ‘Social Media’ is NOT my speciality!!! 😉
For those of you who have perhaps never been to the 1in12 Club before it is the U.K.’s oldest autonomous social centre now existing since 1981. The first two days of MTAE occur at the Club and then for the fianl third day we stumble are way over to Leeds to Wharf Chambers, a Co-Op which is best explained by their own blurb from their webpage which says: Wharf Chambers is a bar and multi-use venue in the centre of Leeds run by a workers co-op in partnership with a members club. ‘We aim to provide an inclusive and affordable space for music, art, film, politics and discussion that brings together people from communities across Leeds.’

We ask that all those wishing to take come to MTAE consider our ethos of unity, acceptance, liberty and solidarity. This means all peoples of planet earth are welcomed and respected if they can welcome and respect all others regardless of ability, skin, gender, sexual preferences and other lame excuses and labels created by a society that wishes to divide and conquer us.
For more on what MEANS TO AN END… aims to represent please check out our (ongoing at present) IDEOLOGY section on this Blog space. Whilst there is not particularly the space for workshops to occur at the Club over the weekend MTAE exists we attempt to make our political message and ideology apparent through the banners that adorn our lovely walls, through the existence of the Club and the volunteers who work there to serve food at the cafe, work the bar and clean up after the gig and help make MTAE happen and through the bands that we ask to play who we believe have something to say.

On Tuesday morning, February 18th 2014 we lost our great friend Protag to cancer.
Not only was Protag such an integral part of the 1in12 Club over the years, being involved with pretty much EVERY aspect of the building from helping establish the library, working the cafe (both in the Club and at outdoor events), the studio, the PA and gig floor…everything! He helped Means to an End… Fest to exist, with help doing the sound, the cafe, his knowledge, help & expertise to keep things going in the face of chaos and taught me personally a lot about communication & being organised to get MTAE happening.
His kindness was always there despite pressures placed on him from multitudes of people and his sense of humour was dry and second to none His loss will leave a massive hole at the 1in12 but he has worked with us all to develop and learn to work together in a more concensus way, to take responsibilty for our own actions and to do the best we can. Not only was he a massive part of the Club but his presence in creating some great music with THE INSTANT AUTOMATONS, ATV, BLYTHE POWER, ZOUNDS will always be remembered.
He was a great friend, always supportive, kind, egoless, willing to put himself out doing punk gigs on a Monday night in the middle of winter and we will miss him terribly. His legend will remain with the 1in12 Club, with all that knew him and I for one am a happier person to have known and been able to have spent time with him. Rest in Peace Protag. Our thoughts are with Anna, his wife, and his family.
